Looks like this fight is actually going to happen sometime next spring.

If it does I hope Mayweather gets his ass beat!

I can not wait for this fight. I also hope Mayweather gets his ass beat and I think he will. If Paq fights the way he was been, he should win. But I haven't been this amped for a fight since the 90s or so. Let's hope no bullshit happens to derail this fight. aka Don King

No coincidence at all, he's one of the all time greats. I just like Paq better and honestly feel that if he fights like he has for the past year or two he'll beat Mayweather. Admittedly it's hard to see Mayweather losing a fight but I used to think the same about Roy Jones Jr. And Mike Tyson for that matter. All great fighters eventually meet their match, except Rocky Marciano who went undefeated.

I am rooting for Pacquiao, no doubt about it. I can't stand Mayweather.

i have neither favourite, i mean im not rooting for either - i just expect the best man to win on the day.

who ever boxes the best, and out-wits the other tacticaly in the ring will win this one.

It remains to be seen how these two fighters, and their contrasting styles and physiques will weigh up against each other in the ring.

One thing is for sure - I don't think Mayweather has been in the ring with an opponent of Manny's class yet.

So when he goes in there , I feel we will either witness one of the finest performances ever by Floyd - in terms of his defensive prowess and counter punching ability - or we'll watch Manny finally assert himself as THE greatest lb for lb boxer that ever lived.

Another thing - expect these two to have a re-match w/e the result of their first meeting. Maybe even a 3rd meeting if the first and 2nd fight prove to be inconclusive.

I respect Floyd because his work rate in the ring, and professionalism is 2nd to nobody and i.m.h.o feel he is the epitome of the term 'Professional'. image

When he goes into that ring he will be 101% mentally and physicaly ready for Manny, and I just feel the Pacman may be undone by a boxer that makes himself extremely difficult to be hit.

Lets wait and see what happens. Should be a good contest. image

I actualy know somebody, or knew somebody - ex pal of philopino descent who hails from the exact same town as Manny does back in the Philipines.

One thing that amazes me about these ppl is their humbleness but also a fierce sense of pride.

He favours the pacman each time in almost all bouts for the win - but always respect Mannys opponent if he feels he has the firewpoer and ability to trouble Manny.

Out of interest - what do you Americans think about 'Amir Khan' ?

yeah but you do realise Manny hasn't been in the ring with somebody of Floyds class - yet. you do realise that right ?

you do also appreciate, that Manny may not be able to approach this fight the same way he's approached some of his previous ones ?

obviously the fight will pan out differently - due to the fact that Manny will be get to test his bombs against , what I and many in the boxing world percieve as the 'finest defensive counter punching welterweight' that ever graced the earth.

bottom line is - if manny fights the way he has been, and floyd fights the way he has been it could easily be a stalemate and could get a rematch on the cards.

Who ever fights the right fight and imposes their game on their other boxer and dictates the pace and furore of it all, will win it. trust me.

Manny Pacquiao has never faced a boxer of Floyds ability and class, so this is his as much as Floyds 'final test'.

Whilst Pacmans explosive speed, punching power and strength is phenomenal - you'd be v.foolish to overlook Floyd's sweeeet 'accuracy' with his punches lol

he doesn't throw many - but when he does, he lands image

and rather nice and sweetly too if i may add. image

my money is on a draw in their first fight - or Floyd to win on points, if Floyd showcases his defensive skills and , as i said, simply connects with all his counter punches (thats all a man of his ability and class needs to do - easier said than done against manny though) then that will be that. He wins. image

What a pisser! image

One aspect of this fight that hasn't been mentioned yet is Ricky Hatton. He fought both men, and sadly lost to both (time to call it a day, Hitman). However, he at least had something of a fight against Mayweather - Pacquaio absolutely demolished him within two rounds. If he can adopt that sort of relentless, bulldozing approach against Mayweather, then he'll win with ease. If the fight goes ahead... image image

Cheers, everybody,

i'm not surprised, but at the same time surprised. Maybe i'm not surprise - but simply annoyed and disgusted @ the behaviour of both promoters and camps, and maybe the boxers for not being able to make decisions for themselves.

Clearly this was going to be a very tricky fight to happen, because Floyd Mayweather wanted a bigger purse from this fight.

Its outrageous what sports is coming to.

Already in England, players are being stupendous amounts of money in football (soccer) - and many don't even break a sweat for their pay.

How does one begin explaining a football player earning £60,000 a week, whilst a doctor/surgeon/vet in England earns but a fraction of that sum ??

its absurd.

There will always be promising young talent coming through in sport, especialy boxing - and Manny Pacman isn't the only one who will go down in history as coming from poverty and making it big.

The money has got to both boxers heads it seems.

fuck the fight and fuck the greed in the boxing scene.
