I recently developed a skill for controlling my dreams (to some extent). I'm not even sure how I developed this skill...but I digress. More often than not, at some stage during my dream state I become aware that I am actually dreaming. Anyone else had this? Anyway, I have (I think with time) mastered the fine art of steering 99% of my dreamworld into foot related content. It really is quite cool, and I just thought I would share this. Can't expalin how I do it - and it doesn't always happen...but when it does...well it's amazing. I can conjour up anybody I choose and within seconds, my nightmare about being chased by giant wasps has within seconds become the perfect dream about Natalie Portman's soles (though preventing her from changing to about 17 different chicks throughout my dream is a problem). Still, I aint complaining. Sk

So what's so special about this Natalie Portman then? I take it she's some kind of movie personality/actress or something?

I have lucid dreams, though not that often. But I'm gonna try to induce them like you have as it's a very interesting experience. :-)

I wish I could control my dreams, I would only have cool dreams but it doesn't work that way. I noticed I dream about things that's happening like in the news mostly or something that happened to me at work and stuff like that.

Solekid2u wrote: YES! It is good to hear from someone else who has this ability. I also always thought it is a good ability to have in conjunction with having a foot fetish. When I tell everyday people about this they really do not know much about it. Some people say Oh I have vivid dreams or yes I sometimes realize I am dreaming and I do this. But to become almost fully conscience in a dream is beyond belief. A lucid dream can be as real as real life. Solekid2u, I do not know if you have this common problem of waking up during a lucid dream but here is a trick I use. When I have feet in my dreams and I start to wake up during a foot session (basically the visuals in the dream darken and blur). I do not focus on the visuals, I focus on tactile senses to keep you dreaming. I'll rub the girl's foot very fast and feel that sensation. Since being conscience and dreaming is asomewhat a contradiction we tend to wake up during lucid dreams. The technique I tjust talked about is an adaptation of the standard practice of rubbing your hands together as discussesd in the many lucid dreams forums. I do not control my dreams, I adapt to the dream environment. If I become lucid and I'm in a city lets say, I start walking over to women and talking to them. It is so interesting! Many do not realize the potential this has. This is not some trendy new-age trick.

Yes I was lucid last night as a matter of fact and this post only just reminded me of that. It was awesome...though I didn't do the foot thing...I was flying everywhere though...it was so amazing. I was in total control. I think I must have been frightenned or felt a nightmare developing though becuase I crashed into a tree deliberately to wake myself up (you will understand what I mean).
Yes, I used to wake up during...and still occasionally do - never quite figured a decent way of preventing that...though I did once find making for the nearest window and going for a quick "fly" works...though it ineitably changes the direction of the dream. I heard that spinning around on the spot with eyes closed (in the dream world) also works. Hey next time you are lucid - fly:) The first few times you will kind of bounce...gigantic bounces miles apart...up and down...but everntually you will hae total control. It really is amazing. I find the best way of initiating a lucid dream is exhaustion. Keeping awake as long as possible, then drinking coffee makes for a dead cert - for my it does anyway. Becuase I work nights sometimes, I am able to do this often.

Sorry I get really enthusiatic about this topic - I tell you my most common encounter - it is waking up and getting out of bed, only to relaise that I am still lucid. It's quite scary when trapped in a nightmare. Say I am having a bad dream and I am semi-lucid, well I do soemthing to wake myself, only I dream that I awoke...lol. It's complex - but I do love it.
I inevitabley always change the direction of the dream the same way - (similar to you) - by leaving the building I am in (usually by flying out of the window) and finding somebody to talk to - I may something like "I think you need a foot massage" and as easy at that, my whole dream has shifted from nightmare to wetmare...lol. [incidentlly at that moment when I jump out of the window I am not 100% certain whether I can fly...it kind of comes to me naturally...so the trick to flying is not to try and fly..becuase you will fail...but to jump out of a window and let yourself go - look into the distance and you will find yourself flying/bouncing along]. I wish there were a more solid science associated with this stuff. It really is ery important stuff, particularly when you understand (as you clearly do)that the dream world and the real world is not all that different when one considers our whole lives and experiences are just basically a series of electrochemical brain signals.

Awesome clip. I'll have to watch that movie "Waking Life". That happened to me and is a common phenomenom - to explain to dream characters what lucid dreaming is or that you are lucid dreaming. Also they say light switches usually do not work in dreams but it actually did once for me. What I also relate to is the enormous surprise one gets when you discover something is off and that you are lucid - especially after a situation described in the clip. I used to have that problem of "dreaming" to wakeup. This is how you fix that: Before you goto bed, look at your alarm clock and note the time. Look away and look back to compare. Obviously it should be the same or a minute afterwards. Also do this everytime you wake up from bed -either for good or going to the bathroom. If you do this in real life, then you will most certainly do this in dreams. I have nevered had a dream where numbers or letters that I looked at twice matched up. Also, if you have a cell phone or watch get in the habit of doing this procedure everytime the setting changes such as just entering a store or your job, your home, etc. This habit will most certainly be caried into your dream and make you lucid more often. You know how you go on a rollercoaster and as it falls down, you have this amazing sensation of falling and oh my god I'm gonna explode. Well sometimes I freefall in dreams and that sensation is so vivid. The key to lucid dreams is not to focus on just your visual sensations. I have found that sound and movement are the most realistic.

I've had this happen before. One of the best dreams I had involved Jennifer Love Hewitt and her bare soles. I realized I was dreaming, but thought, "How often will this happen in real life?", and stuck my face in her soles and then jacked off on her feet.
Sometimes I can't control my dreams, though, and it's even worse when it's a bad dream.

interesting video SoleKid...
I have read there are those that believe that the "electro-chemical" is just a mechanism for 3d interaction, and not the begining and ending of it all. which changes the status of lucid dreaming...

So this is very deep, but last night I dreampt that I was lucid. Complex stuff the mind.
See the mind will do anything to prevent you from becoming lucid - it's primary objective is to shut the conscious down and go into deep sleep mode. Last night my dream was so weird - hard to even put into words - see I dreampt I was lucid - but it was my mind tricking me and in reality I wasn't actually ludic - just dreaming that I was. Like a dream within a dream. When I awoke I realised immediately that I had been tricked. I will hae to develop some knew skills - the mind get's used to your techniques and will counter them with all sorts of tricks. This is why you begin to waken when you realise you are lucid and have to fight to stay under - the mind does not want us to be lucid becuase it defeats the object of sleep if we are semi-conscious or even fully aware. I love this stuff! Sk

Yes that's a very strange thing. Even if you try to focus you usually end up with a whole new scenario. One day, we will be able to watch our own dreams on dvd (I have no doubt). The brain is just a series of electochemical signals, and just as a telephone decodes and converts electircal signlas into sound, one day the dreams will be decoded.
Imagine watching your dreams. Not in our lifetime sadly - this is a long way off. Maybe we blew ourselves by that point anyway. Sk

A few years ago I used to have lucid dreams quite often which was pretty cool coz I could sort of control what happens. But now whenever I realise I'm dreaming everything ALWAYS fades to black. Like a few days ago I dreamt I was in my back yard at home and I realised I was dreaming. But as soon as this happend everything just started to fade and I couldnt control it.

Should have been Maybe we blew ourselves up by that point anyway. I am haing trouble getting lucid this past month. I keep a dream journal and it seems my brain is tricking me. Literally a few nights ago I had a very nasty dream - wont go into details but I recall questioing it at one point - actually asked myself "is this a dream?" while in the dream. Unfortunately, it must have been very real becuase I figured it was real - and never even bothered to run through my usual check list - lights, looking at my watch etc. Damn!! Maybe that's it! Maybe my brain has evolved to prevent me from self-awarness in the dream state. Damn my devious brain...damn it to hell! :( Sk

zizi wrote: Everything used to always turn to black for me. I think being conscious/lucid and dreaming at the same time is a contradiction. You sort of need to balance on a line without going too much in a direction. If you fall back into a traditional dream, you forget you're lucid. If you become too excited you'll start too wake up. I use a technique where I'll rub my hand together really fast. Feeling that friction seems to keep me in the dream. I then do something about the fading visuals. I look in all directions constantly. Dreams are about expectations. So if you expect to see a door around the corner, you'll see it in a dream. When I do this the black goes away and the visuals come back.

Watch the movie "Waking Life" it's an independent film, but it makes you think, and it's about dreams and stuff... by the way try turning a light off or on in the dream when it's lucid, you'll find that only certain things you can control... Trippy!
