do you try your best to dissolve the situation where there has been some kind of 'misunderstanding' with you and some other man ? do you do your best to avoid any type of physical altercation with him ? have you recently nearly gotten into a fisty cuff with some guy ? and is there anything wrong with wanting to abstain from fighting ? but where do you draw the line - when is enough enough , and when would you have to resort to using your fists/legs ? and are you itching to join a gym and perhaps, join a local boxing gymnasium just to get fit and build up some extra self confidence etc ? I've gotten slightly out of shape over the years and a bit lazy - not too impressed with my physical appearance t.b.h, its annoying. Whats more annoying is its totaly out of my character to be this lazy and stuff, I feel by nature, I was always an 'outdoor orienated' person - i was up until my early 20s, all i ever did was play sport and compete heh. | ||

Years ago, I was just itching to get into a fight with somebody. I was the tallest guy in school, and pretty strong by my estimation. After that phase was over, I then felt like although I had the physical ability to win a fight, I was just too lazy to actually fight somebody, lol. Now I just don't get angry very easily, and even if I do, it dissipates so quickly that I almost forget why I was so angry in the first place. And in my opinion, if you're pissed off, then there's no reason to even be in a fight.
Then again, maybe one day I'll finally snap and kick somebody's ass because they hurt somebody I care about...or something. Haha...it could happen, I guess. Oh, and there's nothing wrong with voluntarily abstaining from a fight. If not for your physical condition opposed to theirs, then by the old martial arts belief that violence is only to be used in self-defense and the protection of others. | ||

I'm a lover, not a fighter...seriously, though, I try to avoid fights.
I can normally talk my way out of things, not by arse-kissing but by trying to defuse things. Sometimes, though, you just get some prick who's out for a fight in the first instance, and talking won't help...why are some men arseholes like that? Not at all. I have no problem getting up in people's faces, and getting physical. Then again, my appearance makes me rather harrassable (I am a fat and ugly guy who fits the stereotype of "creepy", but I am significantly stronger than I look and have a high pain threshold).
I also fight dirty and with intent to seriously injure when it does come to blows. It might be a leftover part of my Russian background. Americans tend to posture a lot and throw pretty punches, but as soon as there's a little blood, most revert to "shit man you're crazy" and go limp. That's not to say that I haven't been beaten to a pulp on a several ocassions. I've had a couple broken bones, cuts that needed stitches and miscellaneous crap, nothing I would care to repeat, but nothing new to me either. | ||

there are times where I would love to just fight a guy and beat the piss out of them, because they deserve it
at the end of the day it isn't worth it, jail time plus lawsuits guys that have been in a lot of fights typically don't have much to lose | ||

yes most guys really don't want to fight, they fear getting hurt and embarassed plus the reasons that i listed
but they will talk a big game, especially when surrounded by their friends that will back them up just in case... | ||

Well, i used to have a stupidly short fuse & a knack for sarcasm. The fuse has turned down & the sarcasm...well, its more veiled now :P I agree with you, Wanocki, life is too short to fight for stupid reasons. But god help anyone if they ever broke into my house while my family was sleeping or something. I suspect I would go mental a bit.

Cool subject. As of now I would try my best to avoid a fight, I have a job and kids, so too much to lose. Just before this past Christmas some kid came up to me over parking lot driving. What balls, he got right to my face (since two of his buddies were at his wings), my GF got scared so I told her to keep walking towards the store. Then the fun began. I got in his face, put on my best Hulk face, and yelled the hardest I could, and bumped him with my chest. His face told me everything. He was trying to make himself as small as possible. His buddies had backed off as soon as they saw the grimmace on my face. Truthfully, I wanted him to make a move. I would have made mince meat outta this kid and his two buddies.
In high school, I got in many fights. I can't recall my record, but sometimes I whooped and sometimes I got whooped (two of my whoopings should not count, since on both occasions it was two seniors over me, a frosh). I never looked for trouble, and til this day I never started a fight, not once. A buddy of mine once told me that many dudes in high school wanted to take me on, since I was into powerlifting and was no slouch. I guess they wanted to prove something to themselves. I still powerlift today and do some Muay Thai. Even before all this mixed martial arts stuff got popular I always did my best to take the fight to the ground, where, once I did, I was pretty deadly. Man I could go on and on about a period in my life, early to mid twenties, where I could not go out to a bar without some douche trying to start some trouble, or arm wrestle and so on. But if I could suggest one thing, it's simply avoid a fight unless it's to defend you and yours. | ||

I will usually try everything within my means to avoid physical interaction - that said - if a guy hurts my girl or future kids - game over. Don't care if he's 18 stone and packed with muscles - I am gonna take him down hard. I don't believe in the "fair fight" thing either - if it is gonna happen, I am gona use anything to hand, any dirty trick I can to take the guy down and keep him down.
But I will try all can to avoid this - I really will. Sk | ||

well, i train muay thai and Bjj, not only because i like having the knowledge of the martial arts and would like to be able to defend myself if someone did try to start a fight, but it's a great way to stay in shape. And no, i never start fights with people. | ||

Well obviously being able to defend yourself is important, and girls wouldn't want to date a Loser... But as for "the guy smacking on the window of the car" he'd look like a jerk, and women tend to see violent guys as a precursor to how they'd treat them. I think the Army men are appealing to some women because they believe they're fighting for a Noble cause, Which like I stated in my other reply noble causes are a different story, a Woman would look at him like a Hero.
Cavemen would also just club the woman over the head and drag her back to the cave by her hair... I hope Men today can be a little more gracious about it. lol I know my boyfriend would defend his family and me, but if some jerk were going off on him he'd try to resolve it like a normal healthy adult, grant it if the guy got violent with him he could very well hold his own. I think an applealing quality for a guy is having every ability to kick someone's ass, but choosing not to. | ||

By the way... The guys who fight, girls see that, and think they look like jerks... Girls are usually Way more interested in a Guy who can reslove his problems like a Normal person rather than some meat head who has something to prove. (family,etc. is noble though and understandable)
