I don't mind metal. If you are listening to metal near me, I will not say "turn that shit off". Sometimes I like to crank up some Slayer when nobody's watching. Some metal bands, like the Melvins and Tool, are really awesome. However, I really can't stand people who are like "metal is amazing and is most of what I listen to." Seriously, a gigantic number of metal bands are either self-indulgent (Van Halen), obnoxious (Glam), take themselves waaaayyy too seriously (like, all those black metal retards), boring (I'm looking at you, Metallica), terrible lyricists (I seriously can't think of another genre with the exception of crunk that has such a disproportionately large amount of terrible songwriters), sexist (sup motley crue), or horribly pompous (because nobody cares how long you can solo). tl;dr metal is over rated to the max. | ||

Some pop bands, like the Radiohead and Lonnie Donnegan and his Skiffle Band, are really awesome. However, I really can't stand people who are like "pop is amazing and is most of what I listen to." Seriously, a gigantic number of pop artists are either self-indulgent (Prince), obnoxious (Kanye), take themselves waaaayyy too seriously (FiddyCent)), boring (I'm looking at you the majority of pop music), terrible lyricists (I seriously can't think of another genre with the exception of children's songs composed for TV that has such a disproportionately large amount of terrible songwriters), sexist (sup Ricky), or horribly pompous (because nobody cares how long you can solo).
