The older padders who grew up learning that Libya´s Muammar al-Gaddafi was a dictator might be confused, but here he is greeted overwhelmingly friendly in Rome by Silvio Berlusconi who - as a former member of the US-back conspiracy network "Propaganda Due" and as a good friend of George Bush - has a reputation of being pro-american as can be. What has happened?


The story behind the picture: Gaddafi needs money and some good propaganda stuff and Italy is getting 1/3 of it´s oil from Libyia and Berlusconi allways needs some good propaganda stuff too. So, Italy is giving money to Gaddafi and to help his propaganda this money is officially labeled "recompensation for the crimes of the colonial era" (from 1911 untill 1942 Libyia had been under Italian colonial rule and obout 100.000 Libyans had been massacred), plus: in Rome he was allowed to play the Robin Hood of the Third World (Gaddafi is also the chairman of the African Union). And in return Gaddafi is re-opening Libya for Italian buiseness (the Italian buiseness community had been kicked out by Gaddafi in 1970) and delivering oil and to help Berlusconi propaganda (Berlusconi´s return to power last year was entirely based on anti-immigration-hysteria) Gaddafi is going after those African boat people that are trying to cross the mediterranean. From now on those African boat people will most likely end up in Libyan prisons or abandoned in the desert. All in the name of anti-colonialism and reconcilement! These two guys deserve an Oscar for best screenplay. *g*
